  • As an Interim Executive Director, Dan will work collaboratively with Board members and staff to ensure your organization is well-managed during a leadership transition. Types of engagement will be tailored to the organization’s specific needs. With Dan’s values and experience, your organization will maintain its momentum while ensuring the Board and staff are ready for the leadership transition.

  • As an Executive Coach, Dan will support leadership success by acting as a sounding board and mentor for strategy development and decision-making. Areas of expertise include:

    • Thought partner in problem-solving to move strategic initiatives forward

    • Board development and organizational structure

    • Staff and Board engagement

    • Strategic Planning

    • Program planning and implementation

    • Theory of change and outcome-based planning

  • Dan is excited to work with budding philanthropists (individuals or families) in developing a values-based strategy to support the causes they believe in. Through an inquiry process, Dan will collaboratively assess their philanthropic values and priorities. The final product will include a strategic grant-making framework, proposed decision-making structure and approach, and an implementation plan and timeline to achieve the desired impact.

  • Throughout Dan’s career, he has been involved in fostering collaboration within and across sectors. He is passionate about the increased potential for impact that can result from strategic collaboration. He played a pivotal role in the creation of three Twin Cities-based collaboratives considered national models: The Itasca Project, the Central Corridor Funders Collaborative, and the Equitable Development Organizing Project. In addition, his work as CEO of a national learning network has equipped him with the insights and skills to facilitate large group processes to gain consensus on values, priorities, and action strategies.

    Dan can assist your organization or network through a range of consulting roles. He is available for short-term engagements or full blown collaboration-forming processes that can multiply impact in the broader community.

  • Dan has extensive experience leading and participating in strategic planning processes. He has both developed and implemented plans, so he is aware of how important it is to make sure the plan is grounded in the mission and values of the organization. Dan will engage with you through an openminded assessment of strengths and weaknesses, focusing on outcomes to create a realistic vision and specific action plan for your organization.
