About Dan

As founder and principal of Bartholomay Consulting, Dan focuses on non-profit leadership, executive transitions, family philanthropy strategies, and collaborative facilitation.  Over the last two decades, Dan has served as CEO and Executive Director in multiple organizations. In addition, he’s shaped regional, international, and local initiatives as a Program Director at the McKnight Foundation. Throughout his career, he has challenged the status quo to achieve equitable outcomes. All of his experience, including membership on many non-profit boards, has contributed to his deep knowledge about affordable housing, economic development, community organizing, community planning, and transit-oriented development.  He has also developed successful grantmaking programs and community collaboratives.

Whether it’s facilitating collaborations across all kinds of communities, managing large grant portfolios, or implementing community impact programs, Dan partners with boards and staff to fine-tune and undergird organizational impact strategies. He understands the nuances of leadership transitions and organizational change. He delves deeply to secure authentic stakeholder engagement. With integrity, creativity, inclusiveness, critical listening, and problem-solving skills, Dan will ensure positive change and bold action for any organization or group.

Dan lives in Minneapolis with his wife, June, and cat (Rosie). He has three adult children and is an avid nature explorer, Lake Superior enthusiast, world traveler, and music lover.
